Stages of Syphilis Symptoms of syphilis are quite varied and change according to the stage of the disease. Primary syphilis is the first stage of syphilis and the first symptom is often an ulcer in the genitals, mouth or the bottom which is usually painless and heals on its own. Many people develop symptoms of secondary and tertiary syphilis, because it is quite easy to overlook the symptoms of primary syphilis and not seek treatment right away.

Cauliflower like lesions Genital warts present as fleshy cauliflower like lesions caused by HPV, the Human Pappiloma Virus. Over 100 types of HPVs have been identified; about 40 of these types have the potential to infect the genital area. Genital warts are highly contagious and only skin to skin contact is sufficient to transmit the wart virus.
